Back from Slack

You'd think since I am not working day in and day out I would have more time to blog. Alas, laziness ensues and I have not been blogging. SLACK you say? Agreed. An update on the last couple of weeks...

Okay, first of all I went to the Shotgun Politics CD Release Party
Although I took no pictures of Shotgun Politics themselves, I thought they put on a very good show! I did however get some good shots of Hungry Ghosts...

... here are my favs.

The CD release party was held at Graffiti, a new live music venue in Lan Kwai Fong. Sucks, the place looks retarded and the vibe is lame. Good show tho!

Finished off my last week of work after that. Had a great going away party at Karaoke.

Then over this last weekend I went to the 2 day music fest at The Wanch

Pretty darn great time if you ask me (chances are if you are still reading up to this point, you probably are asking me). Who played:

Super Metal
FAAAR too many pedals!

Live Fast Die!

And 22 more bands I didn't take any photos of...

until next time.

Speedophiles

Live Fast Die! CD release party was this last friday. Was fun but had a very small turn out. I was pretty surprised by the lack of people... although there was a show down in central somewhere for the battle of the bands. Anyways, gots me a copy of the CD now...

Speedophiles

This album was recorded all over the place, namely Hidden Agenda (where the CD release party was held.)

It's pretty sweet cause in the CD insert there are some pictures which I have taken alot of.

Down to the quality of the CD itself now -

A 10 day job and the quality is really nice (I think).
Really has that grimy 'fuck the place up' punk raw rock they embody on stage.

Really well mixed and the art work look effing cool.

Good Job fellas!

who watches the Watchmen?

.... I just did. The first time I saw the movie I was apparently the only one in the movie theatre to not see the big blue penis that was so prevalent in the film. Finally saw it this time around. YEAH!!!! big blue wiener!

Anyhow, this weekend was again full of fun...

Saturday: A surprise leaving party for a couple of my favorite people. Joe did a great job of putting it all together!

This was the lineup on Saturday-

Doing their thing. Playing some fun, fast catchy tunes.

This is Joe (from Livefastdie) and his other band.
First time I heard them live and I really loved it. Music is slightly dated, but in a good way. The type of music they play is the stuff I listened to growing up and will always have a big place in my heart for it!

LiveFastDie
One of their last shows they will play. This was after Hungry ghosts played the song that had the lyrics "Take off your clothes..." which a lot of the men in the Wanch followed.

Sunday: About an hours hike from the Sha Tin Wai MTR station was a beautiful waterfall. A very surreal scenic experience in Hong Kong.

Bottom of the steps to the waterfall.
Nice clear spring water

There was a family there catching Japanese Fire Belly Salamanders.

Mother enjoying the waterfalls

Goodbye Seizures + A Very Hidden Agenda

This weekend was pretty crazy. First off was Ross and Julia's leaving party. Rockschool got pretty packed mostly with people that Ross and Julia didn't know. But it ended up being a gong show. With an open bar and a long line-up of great bands, it was a night to try to remember.

Moy returned from his long ass holiday in the Philippines with Oi Squad! Which I missed most of since they played last and I was too far gone.

LiveFastDie played a killer set. Mike Jack has become a full fledged member of the crew and I tell you it works well!

After they finished their set the 5-0 showed up and put a bit of a downer on the night. According to my friend Tiff, they cleared an entire table of underage kids.

There were a few solo acts -

Joey from Milkteeth played some tunes.

DP played a fantastic set. Always a powerfest!

DBK (David Bowie Knives) were on sexfire! This was one of the best sets I've seen them play and I had heaps of fun.

The next day I staggered over to Hidden Agenda. This was quite fun.. It is one of the most difficult venues to find. There is about a hundred streets in the area that have the word "yip" in them. I asked my buddy Nic what it meant he says something like industrial. Having said it was a hassle to find, it is a really awesome venue!

The bar which sold $20 Tsing Tao!
On top of the bar was three of my favorite things. Star Wars toy, Lord of the Rings toy and A Comic book toy.

One of my favorite bands in Hong Kong and some of my very good friends. Paul Lam (pictured above) looks so fucking cool when he plays the ol' axe.
Mike Jack doing the Bang Bang Smash Clang.

Glad I got to catch them before Ephraim leaves and The Lovesong disband.

!!!!!!

The last band (which were nothing short of boring and bland) were from Beijing. We didn't stay to watch their entire 'performance'.
They did have one redeeming factor... the use of a melodica.

Born From Pain

....is the band I went to go see last night...

Was a pretty fun show, best I've ever seen Live Fast Die play and King Ly Chee were pretty sweet! Pretty sweet night, had quite a few drinks from good ol' 711.
We will be playing open mic tomorrow at The Wanch... then play again the next night for a proper show! Exciting since these will be our first shows.

King Ly Chee is a Hong Kong based hardcore band that has been around for about 13 years.
I grew up with this shit!

Live Fast Die are my friends who play super chunky punk music!
Best drunk punk in Hong Kong!!

If you are reading this and are looking for something to do on Monday and Tuesday night you should totally swing by the wanch for either of those days or both and check us out!

Rum Soaked Folk

LAST NIGHT WAS SUPER FUN TIMES!!!

Tim Holehouse was so fantastic! He was a Tom Waits-esque singer/songwriter from the UK.
Really great blues/folk stuff! We did not fill up Rockschool, but the people that did come were just a bunch of solid people. Check him out because his music should be enjoyed by everyone...

Haha, I bought one of his records on vinyl and he signed it "your band rock" - not so good at the english.

He gave a shower of compliments to our band, one of them being "you can quote me on this, you guys are rum-soaked folk!"

We played.

Danny played.

and lots more played...

We had good times. It was kind of hard not to with a $180 all you can drink deal.

so not only is tim a folk master but also a mix master of crazy noise shit. Gonna try to hit this up on Wednesday - It is Ross' CD Release party-

You can totally click on the picture for the facebook event details.

Gotta clean the Holehouse

So I've just spent the last little while making an event on facebook for a show we are playing on sunday (pretty last minute, but it's gonna be dope!) -Check it out here. So besides an extremely busy ass weekend, we must practice, practice, practice!! The show will be at Rockschool and will be headlined by Ross' friend Tim Holehouse. please come if you can! It should be lots of fun... Here is the poster I made for it -

Hope you can read it.

So, other than that, I had an interview with a primary school waaaaay out in Tsing Yi. Fingers way mega effing crossed! Seemed like a sweet school!

Other than that I am excited about my girlfriend coming here in less than a week! super awesome. Speaking of which, she has a friend David Farrier who is a TV interviewer of pretty much the coolest people anyone would ever get to meet. Just scoped out this video of him...

Anyways Also been really getting into True Blood, never thought I would because I think Vampires are for homos, but this is a pretty wicked show! I do indeed recommend!

More mention of shows we will be playing/going to very soon......

Extreme Heat and Tired Feet

Ended up going to Park Island yesterday. Was a loungin' pool party, a long day but good fun. Park Island sucks tho, nothing really there except a huge residential complex. There is a giant replica of Noah's Ark, but that's it really. Other than that the pool was nice. Alot of rules though, we weren't allowed to drink (even water) in or around the pool, no food and no photo taking! it was a bit of a nazi pool. Anyways we ended up staying there until the 11:30 ferry back into Central then I cabbed it over to the wanch to see my friend's band Live Fast Die play an acoustic set. They were really good!
I only stayed for their set and left right after cause I was zonked.

It has been hotter then a demon summer here.... I went over to Ma On Shan and worked on some stuff with Zane. On the way there I stumbled upon a little shop that had the CHEAPEST pokemon cards I have ever seen! I bought a bunch!!! Then I came home and was uber tired so had a lil nap. now I'm drinking wine in anticipation of the extreme day tomorrow.

I am working in this center and it has 9 back to back classes with absolutely no breaks, not even for five mins.... i'm gonna be spent!

Anyways missing my girl friend super mucho! She is currently out of the country and I am awaiting her arrival!
Just a picture of us being awesome together!
