2 girls 1 up

I'm totally smart.

(please excuse the extremely low quality picture, you will just have to deal with it until I get a decent camera.)
...you'll just have to trust me when I say the colors are BRIGHT!!

Darth Snader

Finished this guy off today and started on a couple more...

I swore to myself I would not paint another Darth Vader. Alas, this is for a series of star wars themed paintings I am making for an upcoming show.

Details will come as soon as I know!

Got Caked

More like Got Drunk. Went to Lets Get Caked at the wanch on wednesday and was presented with an extremely fun line-up of bands. I had not been to the Wanch in quite some time and am now wondering why... I freaking love that place! Proceeds of the show went to The Arkh Project. Check them out HERE to see what they are all about.

The line-up

Sun Eskimos (well Janice and Paul anyway)

-Sounding beautiful as always, Janice pumped out some major tunes. Sun Eskimos are a majorly talented under-aged group of misfits. Fronted by the ever so lovely Janice. Amazing voice, amazing music.

Tiger Bombers

A rock-the-frown-off-your-face 3 piece. 3 mega cool people taking turns showing off their pipes. Super fun to listen to and even more fun to watch.

9 Maps

I cannot stress enough how fantastic this band is. every time they play I cannot help but give them my full attention. HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL!

and last but not lame..

Dude Law

I had not heard these dudes live prior to this. If you are like me and like pop punk that is actually good then you will like dude law. The set was short but the songs were driving and dirty.

I recorded a couple of videos from their set which I will post soon (I 'sort of' promise).

We had joy, we had fun, we had far too many alcoholic beverages.

until next time. stay filthy.

Why does Hong Kong need HKXO

I discovered that HKXO stands for Hong Kong Cross Over last night (I thought it stood for Hong Kong hugs and kisses). HKXO1 was a great success, maybe there wasn't as many people as say a CD release or whatnot, but there was a mingling of local and western music. Hearing new music is always good and HKXO's aim is to serve you up a dish of new music every time you go to one of their shows. Without HKXO I most likely would have not heard two of my new favorite bands...

SAY YOU CARE

A throwback to the late nineties/turn of the century indie emo epic-ness.

and

Heavy tunes from a solid band.

It's not difficult to by one of my favorite bands.

Criteria:

1. Be Heavy
2. Have 2 vocalists

As for the band I have seen many a time before....

Shotgun Politics (well half)

Proving they can rock just as hard as a mellowed out 2 - piece.
SIDE NOTE : Freddy's face is amazing.

 This Is Ammunition

Always a joy! Catchy shit!

HKXO is a crossover. In a city famed for its blend of west and east, there unfortunately remains a divide between two parallel music communities. Whilst the musical landscape in HK has never looked as bright as it has coming into 2012; HKXO aims to further close the rapidly narrowing gap between musicians in the territory; exposing as many people to as much beautiful, local, independent and genuine music as possible along the way.

1 show. 4 bands. 2 east, 2 west. Every month.

Keep supporting local and live music!

HKXO 1

Tomorrow is HKXO 1

Very excited to hear Say You Care and Direct Action.

Shotgun Politics and This is Ammunition will also be showcasing their brand of the aurally insane.

HKXO is an organization that my buddy Joe has created. He aims to bridge the gap between the Local bands here in HK. It is a solid idea and needs your support. Check out his blog here - HKXO for a look into all the latest and greatest news on HKs growing local music scene!

Art Walk and Trash Talk

I will be taking part in the Hong Kong Art Walk this year thanks to Future Industries

Leo has been gracious enough to offer me a spot to put a couple paintings up in their gallery during the event.

The Hong Kong Art Walk is pretty cool (although, I've never been). It's Hong Kong's biggest charity/art event.... should be 'fabulous'. Go check it out if you can on March 14th. Once you have a ticket, there will be tons of beer and wine for you to guzzle all night.

Also doing something stupid with Poubelle International soon. They have a show this Saturday -----

Also, I might be on TV soon. Keep an eye out for that!

I am Bangkok

As we got to Bangkok Sunday night we waited in endless lines to get from the airport to Khao San Road (where we would spend the majority of our time).

My travel buddy Andrew and I found a place to stay without really looking.

LEK Guest House - Actually the worst place to stay in BKK. The walls were paper thin, and the windows were broken. Lek Guest House is located right in the middle of the party street which meant we didn't have silence until about 5 or 6 am... as the sun shone into out non-air conditioned crappy box of a room we could not help but wake up from our thin wooden beds. After realizing how much of a shit hole this place was we did not attempt to change places.

That night we partied...

The next day we went around looking at the slums and bums of Bangkok.

Mostly sticking to the dangerous back alleys.

Then after too much beer in the unbelievable heat we got sleepy and 'rested' in our room.

then we partied harder.
we hit up every bar on the street.. no big deal.
This kid wanted to thumb wrestle. He was a psycho.

The next day we went temple hopping...

after 30 seconds in each temple we walked back

Sat down and had some drinks. This pirate dude saw us everyday. He knew without asking us we didn't want to buy any of his shit, he just gave us thumbs up. He knew.

That night was relax night... got a couple massages then fish feet.

then a foot massage, the lady told me I had a problem with my heart. I got angry with her

Next day I got a crappy tattoo from The Sex Tattoo.

another terrible sleep and then back to HK.

The End

...we made a video
