Got Caked

More like Got Drunk. Went to Lets Get Caked at the wanch on wednesday and was presented with an extremely fun line-up of bands. I had not been to the Wanch in quite some time and am now wondering why... I freaking love that place! Proceeds of the show went to The Arkh Project. Check them out HERE to see what they are all about.

The line-up

Sun Eskimos (well Janice and Paul anyway)

-Sounding beautiful as always, Janice pumped out some major tunes. Sun Eskimos are a majorly talented under-aged group of misfits. Fronted by the ever so lovely Janice. Amazing voice, amazing music.

Tiger Bombers

A rock-the-frown-off-your-face 3 piece. 3 mega cool people taking turns showing off their pipes. Super fun to listen to and even more fun to watch.

9 Maps

I cannot stress enough how fantastic this band is. every time they play I cannot help but give them my full attention. HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL!

and last but not lame..

Dude Law

I had not heard these dudes live prior to this. If you are like me and like pop punk that is actually good then you will like dude law. The set was short but the songs were driving and dirty.

I recorded a couple of videos from their set which I will post soon (I 'sort of' promise).

We had joy, we had fun, we had far too many alcoholic beverages.

until next time. stay filthy.

Zine Scene

It's been too long. Chinese New Year is over and I have spent almost all of it either with a drink in hand or playing the new Zelda (which is freaking rad by the way).

Other than that I don't have a hell of a lot to report.

Hungry Ghosts EP launch is coming up this Saturday (4th of February). Please go and support them. It's gonna be a fantastic show!

(click on the picture to see the details of the show)

On the 10th I am taking part in a 'Zine Swap' with a bunch of friends and fellow artists. This should be a fun night too... swing by and pick up a bunch of original zines.

just brew it

Been recovering all day from the Anniversary of The Hong Kong brew house... been one year since they moved location. I have always enjoyed hanging out at the Brew House on any given night. I have seen that it is a great potential music venue as well. Last night was proof that it can host acoustic music quite excellently. Anyways, I don't even know if I'm making sense now, I am terribly hung over... whatever, heres some pictures -

General crowd vibes-

Nuclear Rose?

apologies for the slack-ass-ness of this blog post.

Friday Night Ghosts

Hungry Ghosts (or famished phantoms, or starving specters) played Hidden Agenda where they opened up for a chinese Dance Rock band Da Bang....

Hidden Agenda has extended their stage... so big now!
Thunderous Bass amp-age! Fantastic sound.

One of my favorite things about watching Hungry Ghosts is Paul's amazing facial expressions....
... and energy.
Luke also has some epic moves!

The Ghosts sounded great. Seems to me like they get better and better with each show.

DA BANG!

Surprisingly great band from china. Punk-ish Dance Rock...
Super catchy riffs and 'phat beats'

Seriously awesome band

emotional bassist.

really good vocals...

They had all the elements of a great Dance Rock band with a splash of just pure balls.

Here is a video that does them VERY little justice....

seriously way better than this live!

Sans Controle

Well, the Poubelle CD release show was quite a success! A very big production and quality at that! A lot going on and even more fun was had...

first things first. I got there pretty early to start setting up (and thank God I did since it took so long). The three artists were Matt Baily AKA NML, Shann Larsson, and myself.

Here is my ghetto tour of the art side of things (minus one painting that Shann brought later on).

Poubelle took the stage and were dead on. They played really well and had lots of fun up there.
The stage was done up with cool white sheets stretched all over the place, hard to explain without a decent picture.

About half way through the set a puppet show came on to 'mimic' the band... was pretty freaking funny actually. The puppet show was also projected on a screen behind them as to not miss a single dance move.

The night continued to escalate until I got very drunk and then the night just got blurry.

and this is how it ended.

A Chariot passes through

Am still pumped up from the show last thursday. The last minute show organized for the Chariot to play at Hidden Agenda was insanely good. We were having such a blast. The venue was great to get up close and personal.

without further ado, here are my favorite pictures from the show.
so much energy!
So much love!
Wolf....
Wolf was loving it up there!

Now time to take turns on the snare!

After they finished their intense set, they stuck around for a few hours and we got to chat with all of them, was really cool. They were all extra nice guys who just enjoyed having a chit chat.

What an amazing night, One of the best live shows Hong Kong has had.
