too much fun..

..is what I've been having lately. Easter is a time for bunnies and dranks.

Last wednesday the wanch housed a very chaotic line up.

Shotgun came on first and as I heard from multiple people who have never seen them before, they were excellent!

I would also like to thank them for letting me walk on stage and ruin some of their tunes!

You can watch the video here ------> Carry On Feat Danny the G(r)eek

This Is Ammuniton showed off their guns...

and the cherry on the top...

SHEPHERDS THE WEAK
Smiles on all faces watching a drunken group of dudes shouting their asses off.
love these guys, check em out whenever you can!

PS - instagram has been consuming my very existence lately.... you should follow me...

Why does Hong Kong need HKXO

I discovered that HKXO stands for Hong Kong Cross Over last night (I thought it stood for Hong Kong hugs and kisses). HKXO1 was a great success, maybe there wasn't as many people as say a CD release or whatnot, but there was a mingling of local and western music. Hearing new music is always good and HKXO's aim is to serve you up a dish of new music every time you go to one of their shows. Without HKXO I most likely would have not heard two of my new favorite bands...

SAY YOU CARE

A throwback to the late nineties/turn of the century indie emo epic-ness.

and

Heavy tunes from a solid band.

It's not difficult to by one of my favorite bands.

Criteria:

1. Be Heavy
2. Have 2 vocalists

As for the band I have seen many a time before....

Shotgun Politics (well half)

Proving they can rock just as hard as a mellowed out 2 - piece.
SIDE NOTE : Freddy's face is amazing.

 This Is Ammunition

Always a joy! Catchy shit!

HKXO is a crossover. In a city famed for its blend of west and east, there unfortunately remains a divide between two parallel music communities. Whilst the musical landscape in HK has never looked as bright as it has coming into 2012; HKXO aims to further close the rapidly narrowing gap between musicians in the territory; exposing as many people to as much beautiful, local, independent and genuine music as possible along the way.

1 show. 4 bands. 2 east, 2 west. Every month.

Keep supporting local and live music!

HKXO 1

Tomorrow is HKXO 1

Very excited to hear Say You Care and Direct Action.

Shotgun Politics and This is Ammunition will also be showcasing their brand of the aurally insane.

HKXO is an organization that my buddy Joe has created. He aims to bridge the gap between the Local bands here in HK. It is a solid idea and needs your support. Check out his blog here - HKXO for a look into all the latest and greatest news on HKs growing local music scene!

this WAS halloween

I think it is about time I do a halloween post from last month... slacker!

First things first... during halloween weekend the first anniversary of The Bauhinian Collective invaded all things Wan Chai....

SWINDLERS on thursday...
DBK warmed up and soaked down the crowd with their sexy sex rock...
DBK will be going to Manila this weekend with Tigerbombers. Wish I could say I was tagging along, but alas, I will be in HK.

This is ammunition hit hard once more with their post-core style of noise.

ALSO - Tigerbombers played, SOMEHOW I didnt take any pictures of them, I think I was getting far too drunk and not snap happy enough.

I missed the friday show at the Wanch which I heard was 'outta sight'.
I was nursing a hangover from the first night. Note to self: Pace yourself.

Feeling much better Saturday, I headed down to Xperience. The last night of the Anniversary (which also happened to fall on dress up day.

Bjork and Beiber made an appearance.

Wolfman Andre had some bro time with beibs.

My helmet became a whore for the night..

First band of the night...
An undead Sun Eskimos.

Mad Props to Shotgun Politics for putting on such a kick-ass performance

Sushi Robot was throwing down some phat ass shapes in between sets..

and at the end Very Ape played. Again no pictures... hmmmm...

After all of the drinky McDrink nonsense, I headed out to see the sights and frights....
One picture I managed to take was of these...... Joker convicts?

ACTUAL HALLOWEEN

Star Crossed Tattoo was having their annual Halloween Free Tattoo Day.  I had drawn up some crappy skulls for people to choose from along with some of my artist buddies...

AND I SAW A BULBASAUR!

....and a gameboy...

It was a wearwolf bar mitzvah!

Back from Slack

You'd think since I am not working day in and day out I would have more time to blog. Alas, laziness ensues and I have not been blogging. SLACK you say? Agreed. An update on the last couple of weeks...

Okay, first of all I went to the Shotgun Politics CD Release Party
Although I took no pictures of Shotgun Politics themselves, I thought they put on a very good show! I did however get some good shots of Hungry Ghosts...

... here are my favs.

The CD release party was held at Graffiti, a new live music venue in Lan Kwai Fong. Sucks, the place looks retarded and the vibe is lame. Good show tho!

Finished off my last week of work after that. Had a great going away party at Karaoke.

Then over this last weekend I went to the 2 day music fest at The Wanch

Pretty darn great time if you ask me (chances are if you are still reading up to this point, you probably are asking me). Who played:

Super Metal
FAAAR too many pedals!

Live Fast Die!

And 22 more bands I didn't take any photos of...

until next time.
